| Organ and horn driven soul R&B with thumping bass lines, way up in the mix, and Missy’s strong assertive, soulful vocals is what you will find in abundance on Missy Andersen’s self titled debut album. Missy’s husband and band leader, Heine Andersen, co-wrote 2 of the 8 tracks and the covers includes Junior Well’s “Little By Little,” Ann Peebles sweet “I Can’t Stand the Rain.” Missy Andersen proves beyond a doubt that she’s the real deal opening with O.V. Wrights “Ace Of Spades” punctuated by the horns of Robbie Smith*trumpet and Bob Mathessax and, the original “New Feet” has a bubbling rhythm that will have you bouncing, a crisp guitar solo by Heine and Missy’s outstanding vocals seal the deal. The rendition of Freddie King’s “Pack It Up” is capital “F” Funky with the horn section and Jeppe Juul on Hammond organ. The CD closes out with an acoustic blues original featuring Nathan James playing slide on dobro. If you like your blues with a serious of real deal soul, then you really need to get yourself a copy of Missy Andersen. |
